The Importance of Proper Skin Care

On some level, I feel that we all have a desire to keep our skin healthy. After all, we only get one skin in this life. Diseases such as Sun Poisoning or Melanoma and more that can permanently damage your skin or worse is a very serious risk. However, there is hope. It is time to bring some clarity on the many ways you can keep your skin healthy. Some of these ways may seem obvious, while others won't.

Getting your daily dose of vitamins is one way to help maintain proper skin care. Several articles discuss the benefits for the skin with proper vitamin intake. The vitamin that helps benefit skin the most is Ascorbate, a.k.a. Vitamin C. While it's mostly known for being an immune system booster, Vitamin C helps promote the synthesis of collagen, which in turn helps strengthen structural proteins in the skin. Vitamin C also aids in neutralizing free radicals and helps prevent damage from the environment.

Skin can be extremely vulnerable during the summer. Why? Well that's because chances are you will visit the beach or go out on a camping trip. As such, your exposure to ultraviolet rays in increased. However, you can remain relatively safe if you are smart about what you bring with you. It is recommended to bring a sunscreen lotion with a high SPF (sun protection factor), as well as packing light-toned clothing for when you are not tanning. Darker tones should be avoided, because they absorb more UV rays. Lastly, bring an umbrella to help provide shade!

What about when you're not on vacation? We talked about getting your daily vitamins but what about proper skincare products. The products one would use should be determined by whether your skin is oily, dry, a balance between the two states, or even if you have sensitive skin. Consulting a qualified dermatologist in order to help narrow down which types of skin care products to use is recommended.

Nobody wants skin cancer. That's obvious. Lower your chances by keeping your skin healthy. Ways such as proper nutrition, knowing how to dress and knowing what kinds of skincare products are right for you are just some ways to maintain healthy skin.
