Problem Acne - Try Botox!

By Cam A. Lennot

For over twenty year, Botox has been approved and vigorously utilized for cosmetic purposes. Not surprisingly, it is most known for eliminating wrinkles and turning back the clock. The newest and most promising area for the use of Botox Cosmetic is for the treatment of acne and for the reduction of pore size.

Acne continues to be a major skin problem. In fact, it is one of the most common skin conditions at present. It's estimated that nearly 100% of teenagers have at least an occasional acne breakout. The more surprising stat is that, of those teenagers that have some acne issues, a whopping forty percent seek doctor treatment due the severity of the acne. In its most severe form, cystic acne, the scars that it leaves on the face can affect an individual for a lifetime. The exact cause of acne is not known, but it is thought to result from a combination of factors including excess oil or sebum production and ineffective exfoliation resulting in pore clogging, bacterial overgrowth and inflammation.

Thankfully, there seems to be some help for people afflicted with this severe acne. Botox is targeted at the problem area for the oil production, the glands just under the skin. Pore size should be reduced and the overall impact of the acne should be severely diminished. A very shallow injection placed at the depth of the sebaceous glands is the key to pore shrinking through Botox. This is unlike the normal Botox treatment for wrinkles, which tend to target the muscle tissue under the skin.

Questions to Ask Your Doctor

- What kind of training did you receive for Botox?

- How often do you perform Botox treatments?

- Will I achieve the results I am looking for with Botox?

- Is this a stand alone procedure or is it better if I combine this with another treatment?

- Do you offer any loyalty or referral rewards to patients?

- Can you tell me exactly what will happen on the day of my treatment?

Consider price as one of your criteria but not your only one. You're likely to get a less experienced and qualified injector if you target a bottom basement price. Of course, it's not a bad thing to shop around to get the best deal based on a number of criteria. Just be prudent in your research. A good doctor can make all the difference in the world.

It Doesn't Hurt to Get Botox

It's very well known that this is essentially a pain free procedure. And fortunately, the recovery time is practically nothing. This is in sharp contrast to most surgeries. Patients report not feeling the needle at all or at most experiencing a sensation similar to that of a mosquito bite. Post Botox, there is no downtime needed for the recovery period. Patients can go about their planned schedule. You can even schedule an appointment on your way from home to work.
