Is A Low Carb Diet Program - The Best Way To Eat

By James Steele

One of the most prevalent diet trends in existence these days is eating "low carb" or "no carb" diets. The Atkins Diet was really the first popular low carb diet, and since that one came out, many others followed. People had mixed results with these diets, and it was common to see people losing weight for a while, but gaining it back as soon as they veered from the diet even slightly. The truth is that carbs are good for you.

Eating out is not always good for a diet, so choose roasted items from the menu. Fried or braised foods are mainly the menu items, but there should be a couple of roasted items for you to pick from. Roasted vegetables will work well for side dishes. When making a choice if you must have a potato rather than a salad, choose roasted potatoes over French fries. Roasting doesn't involve the oil and other high carb ingredients that braising and frying involve so it is the healthiest choice you can make when you go out to a restaurant to eat.

Eggs are a fantastic source of vitamins, minerals and nutrients for people who are trying to avoid carbs - especially during breakfast time. When you think of breakfast, fatty foods are normally what come to mind. Think about it: isn't bacon one of the first things you think of when you think of having breakfast? Just having eggs and a glass of juice can be a tasty breakfast that is totally filling and satisfying. Make sure, though, that you don't add a bunch of things like cheese or other additives that are high in carbohydrates or you will undo all of the work you've put in to keeping your carb count low.

Many people are passionate about pasta -are you one of them? Perhaps you even dread the idea that you can't eat it anymore. Maybe you read somewhere that anyone on a low carb diet has to say goodbye to pasta forever. You'll be glad to know that this is a myth. There are a lot of gluten free pastas out there now that you can use.

If you go on a low carb diet, you just have to change your perspective a little. You should get rid of the notion that eating any carbs at all is bad for you. You should be conscious of what kinds of carbohydrates you eat; get them from natural, whole grain and vegetable sources and limit your portions. If you need some encouragement or advice, you should see your doctor to get additional help. One or two consultations with a professional can help you get a clearer idea of what it takes to maintain a low carb diet.
